All-Stars Overview
To be eligible for consideration as an OSLL All-Star, families must complete a commitment letter that shall be distributed to all families in AAA & Majors baseball as well as Minors & Majors softball describing the commitment expectations of OSLL as well as a summary of the All-Star selection process. All families must return the form, indicating whether their child wishes to be considered for an All-Star team. Forms must be signed by a parent or guardian, even if the family declines to participate in All-Stars.
This commitment letter provides the OSLL Board of Directors with the pool of players available for an All-Star team from which All-Star ballots can be created from.
Unlike the regular season, the All-Star teams are chosen with the intent of competing at the highest level. Every All-Star candidate must meet the following criteria: eligibility, availability and ability.
Eligibility: To be eligible, the player must have played in at least 8 of his/her team’s regular season games.
Availability: The player must be able to commit to attending 100% of all games and practices unless there is an unexpected challenge (e.g., sick, illness, family emergency). Practices may be daily. The player must make a commitment to be available from mid-June through the end of July though it is probable the team's games will end before then. If a player cannot commit to that time period, they will not be eligible for All-Star selection.
Ability: The player must have demonstrated a high caliber of play during the regular season relative to their peers.
Available All-Star Teams
There are multiple available All-Star teams:
Baseball - 12U, 11U, 10U
Softball - 12U, 11U, 10U
In a given year, the OSLL Board of Directors shall decide which All-Star team(s) to field players for. Additionally, the OSLL Board of Directors may choose to merge with other local league(s) in fielding All-Star teams where each league contributes players to the roster.
Selection Process
All-Star Ballots
Each of the All-Star teams shall have a separate ballot for voting. If a player is selected to more than 1 team, the player may choose their team.

Common Rules Across All Teams
Each voter will vote from the pool of available players. The number of players to vote for may vary by year and will be at the direction of the Board of Directors. Players are not allowed to vote for themselves. Players are not allowed to discuss the ballots with each other before the votes are collected. Coaches and managers are not permitted to influence the players’ votes in any way.
If OSLL is fielding X roster spots for a team, the top (X*80%, rounded down) voted players are automatically selected to the team (Y). If there is a tie for the last automatic roster spot, the managers/coaches that voted for the team shall decide which player the last automatic roster spot goes to.
The remaining players (X-Y) for the team are selected by a meeting of the managers/coaches who voted along with the Board of Directors. Their selection shall be based on:
Quality of play, baseball/softball skill and athleticism, position needs, and character
The goal should be to create the best possible team
Eligible players are those that were on the All-Star ballot, but not voted in
There is discretion for the roster size to be determined as the group sees fit to create the best possible team based on Little League Tournament minimum and maximum roster sizes
Only the final roster is to be communicated to the broader league. The order of selection (ballot vs. subsequent meeting) is to remain confidential.
All-Star Manager/Coach Selection Process
The player rosters will be selected prior to the selection of the All-Star managers and coaches.
Only managers and coaches from the regular season who also have players selected to an All-Star team shall be eligible for selection (however managers are not limited to becoming managers and coaches are not limited to becoming coaches).
Each eligible candidate will be asked if they would like to be considered for managing or coaching the corresponding All-Star team.
From the list of candidates who wish to be considered, the Board of Directors will select the managers of the All-Star teams. Considerations include previous coaching experience, including All-Star experience, character, and regular-season and playoff performance.
If OSLL is merging with other town(s) for a given team, then the Board of Directors across towns shall select the managers & coaches.
If there are not enough eligible candidates than additional people not meeting the above criteria can be considered by the Board of Directors.
