OSLL Baseball Divisions of Play
Old Saybrook Little League provides baseball opportunities for kids aged 6-12.
Our spring season aims to offer the following divisions of play. While it can vary by year, grades 1st, 3rd and 5th are often split across divisions in baseball.
Minors A (K-1st grade)
Open to kids that have played one year of spring t-ball or are in 1st grade. This division introduces coach pitch (no strike outs). Score is not kept.
Minors AA (1st-3rd grade)
AA continues to introduce additional rules and expectations. Pitching may be a mix of pitching machine/coach pitch/kid pitch. There are strike outs but no walks. There is no base stealing. Score is generally not kept.
Minors AAA (3rd - 5th grade)
Minors AAA introduces more competitive play, with umpires, base stealing and a season ending Shoreline Tournament. Kids pitch with called balls and strikes. Score is kept.
Majors (5th - 6th grade)
Majors Baseball is the most competitive division, with umpires, base stealing and a season ending Shoreline Tournament. Kids pitch with called balls and strikes. Score is kept.
All-Stars (Ages 8-12)
Towards the end of the regular season, players are selected from the AAA & Majors divisions for the 10U, 11U and 12U All-Star baseball teams. Old Saybrook may combine with other towns to field these teams. One or more may not be offered in a given year as well.
